We had the opportunity to go camp at Ragged Mountain while visiting our family in Colorado. Ragged mountain holds a special place in the heart of Kenny's dad, Kelly. He was one of the men who made it possible for the church to purchase the land, so that it could be used as a place for the youth of the church. Kenny and his sisters grew up going there for scout and girls camp. Many testimonies have been strengthened because of the special spirit felt at Ragged mountain.
The views were breath taking and I kept telling Kenny that this is where I want to live. Unfortunately, they don't let people live on church camp sites.
Drew started catching frogs the minute we hiked down to the lake.
Owen started catching them also, however the frogs he caught tended to not jump away as he put them back in the water!
With the help from daddy, Mya held the frogs too!
Ian however, was grossed out and did not want anything to do with the frogs. Kenny of course told him to stop being a weenie and forced him to hold a frog!
The water was freezing, but it didn't stop Drew from swimming all the way across the lake.
Ian only swam across after Kenny promised him a soda of his choice and if Drew swam with him.
Owen was smart and had Aunt Kim do the work of crossing the lake for him!
The boys found a home made raft to play with.
Like Grandfather...Like Grandson!
Mya and the aunties made a game where they hid in the trees and jumped out to scare the rest of us as we came around a corner.
Mya really got into it and loved jumping out and growling at us. She then would run ahead to another tree to do it again. The game did get her back to the camp site quickly without any of us adults having to carry her.
We were careful lighting a fire in Colorado, since the rest of the state was burning, but
we enjoyed roasting marshmallows around the campfire and talking late into the night.

We slept in the cabin known as the, "The Stable," which was named after his truly! The kids loved sleeping with the aunties in the large bunk room!
The next morning we went out on a beautiful hike.
I love this picture of Kelly. He has Parkinson's disease, but it hasn't stopped him from doing what he loves, hiking in what he refers to as "God's Country" wearing his BYU colors proudly!
While we were hiking, Kenny heard a loud crash and then noticed a baby bear cub in the top of a tree! I took some quick pictures and then we high tailed it out of the area. As we were leaving, the baby bear started crying for its mother. It made us move even faster away, so that we didn't have to come face to face with mama bear!
The meadows surrounding Ragged Mountain were filled with daisies, which are my favorite flower!
The view was gorgeous!

Mya taking the time to smell the flowers!
Kelly told me that he has, "Ragged Mountain Fever!" I think I've gotten the same fever! He and I share many similar loves: dark chocolate, carmel popcorn balls, and now Ragged Mountain! I am so grateful for the opportunity we had to go to Ragged Mountain with family and for creating special memories in such a special place!
