Camping in Summers' National Forest

Our activities with the Bieb's have all gone off without a hitch, until last night. Hours were spent packing up the two cars with all of the camping supplies and food, getting the kids all dressed and loaded, & driving to the perfect camping destination, only to find out that the camping grounds were closed! By this time it was 6:30 and the kids were crying and complaining about being hungry. We quickly formulated a plan B and called another camp ground in another town, which happened to be closed also. We then started calling friends and driving around to try and find a different campsite. With many tears from the very disappointed little girls we pulled back into the Summers driveway. As we got out of the cars Kenny said, "Let's set up camp!" We tried to make the girl's first camping trip a success and I think we did even though we had some bumps in the road.

There were many benefits of camping in the backyard. Running water and clean toilets were definitely a perk! We stayed much cleaner and when threats were given about being quiet and going to sleep, or they would go inside to sleep, they could actually be enforced. The camping trip ended up great. When Reese came in the house this morning with a big grin on her face , I asked her how camping was and she said, " Its just like Sea World!" I interpreted that to mean she had a blast in the Summers' National Forest!!!
