{Spring Break}

I've been trying my best to keep my kids active during spring break. We've had lots of fun playing this whole week. This activity that i found on pinterest, kept them busy for a good hour! We pretended that the crepe paper strung up down the hallway was full of electricity and if they touched it they would be electrocuted! Good times at the Summers' Home!

Owen figured out that if he was a superhero (Spiderman/Power Ranger), he could maneuver easier through the maze!

I love having my kids home....for a week that is!

{Out of control}

Mya wakes up with the craziest hair in the morning! It is always out of control and I never look forward to brushing it out. But she always wakes up with a smile!

Speaking of hair....Owen was saying our family prayer for the morning and in the prayer he said, "Please bless me that I can get my haircut today, Amen." I couldn't help but laugh because this was the first time he even mentioned anything about wanting his haircut. I prefer Owen with long, California style hair, but I guess he was ready for a change. That day I took him on a date to get his haircut, with "spikes" and out for our favorite Thin Mint shakes at the Stoppe!

We also got chocolate cake. I love this little guy so much and wish he would slow down growing up!

{Friendships}

Mya has become my little social butterfly! We recently met a little girl at the park and her and Mya hit it off immediately. After talking we realized that we live down the street from each other. We learned the little girls name was Elliot, which is my maiden name, & I knew these two were destined to be friends. Her mom and I also hit it off, so it has been so much fun getting to know each other.

Mya now has several little friends in our neighborhood who she is constantly asking to play with. We even had to install another lock, out of her reach on our front door, just to keep her from venturing outside to find her friends on her own.

Mya loves going to Elliot's house because her mom Julia always has fun activities, plus she loves to make cookies! Julia is also a dancer, so we've been having dance parties, where we turn up the music, let our hair down, and just dance! The little girls love it & so does Owen!

I'm so glad these two little ones are so close and I can't wait to see their friendship blossom as they get older!

{Broom Nonsense}

My mom called to tell me that Jupiter and Saturn were aligned & that for the next 24 hours, if I stood my broom up in the middle of the room it would stay. I wasn't sure if it would really work, because it sounded a little crazy to me, but I thought I would try it anyways. To my amazement, the broom stayed up with little effort & I haven't been able to get it to stand up on its own since that day!

{March Madness}

March is basketball month & I am relieved to say that we made it thorough another season. The week after soccer ended in December, Drew and Ian started basketball. The whole family was kept busy as we juggled taking them to and from 2 hr practices Wednesday - Friday nights, with games on Saturdays for 3 months. The boys had fun, got lots of exercise, and enjoyed being part of a team! I loved watching their games and cheering them on. I will always be their cheerleader!

Drew moved up a division this year and the game was intensified 100%! The coaches at this level are very much more, "In to basketball" than the dads who volunteer to coach the younger kids. Drew's coach, Brian, worked these kids so hard and taught them valuable lessons along the way. He taught & drilled into them the 4 F's: Focus, Fun, Fundamentals, Family & Friends. He was an amazing coach who built the kids up with his Motto, "WE NOT ME!" Drew loved being apart of the Mavericks team and he played well.

Drew definitely wasn't the tallest kid on the team, but he was the quickest! He was awesome at stealing the ball away from the opposing team and running the ball down for a lay-up. Unfortunately, he missed most of his lay-ups. A fundamental to keep working on I guess!

Drew ended his season with Coach Brian taking the boys out for bowling. Drew won a $25 gift card for getting the best bowling score!

Ian, my social child, loved the season because several of his buddies from school were on his team. All during practice & his games, Ian would be smiling and laughing about something with the other boys. He had fun, but did not take it nearly as serious as Drew. Ian's great advantage in basketball is his height. He towered over several of the boys and used that strength to help him. He was also great at passing the ball to his team mates. I loved watching Ian because anytime he did anything good, he would look over to Kenny and I and smile, and give us a thumbs up sign. I can't wait to watch Ian as he continues to learn more fundamentals. However, I'm not sure if the focus, will ever be there!

Ian was ecstatic to get a trophy at the end of the season.

I am so grateful for Drew and Ian and for their dedication to work hard at a sport and to not give up, when the going got tough! I love these boys so much and can't wait to see them as the develop and strengthen their talents.

They say the cutest things.....

Mya, my little girl, said in her prayers last night, "Please help us to be strong and healthy like the Hulk!"

Owen almost ran straight into a woman as we entered a dark parking garage. As I told him to watch out, he quickly yelled, "Well she's all black!" Coincidentally she was African American! She was wearing a black dress, which is what he was referring too!

Owen told me today, "You are the best mom I ever had! I love you all the way up to Jesus!" He also loves kissing and told Kenny, "I just want to stay home from school and kiss mom all day!"

Drew lost a tooth at school when he bit into his apple. He felt the tooth inside his mouth as he was chewing and when I asked him about it, he said, "I didn't realize it was mine and I wondered if it was one of the workers!"

While at church, a teacher asked the kids what happened to Jesus right after he was baptized and brought up from the water. Ian enthusiastically raised his hand and said, "He asked for a towel!"

After a long struggle with my boys, to get them inside, bathed, and into bed, I yelled, "I am done, go to sleep!" Owen looked up at me and said, "Mommy I'm sorry you're sad, but the problem is that you don't beat up Drew and Ian. Just beat them up and I will be on your team!"

We are not a family who eats beans, so when Drew went to a friends house to play and eat dinner, he was hesitant to eat the burrito that had refried beans in it. When I picked him up he said to me, "Mom she put mud inside the burrito!"

Aunt Connie pleaded with Owen to shoot his daddy with the gun instead of her and his response, "No, he's the best daddy i've ever had!"

I begged the boys to quit fighting and Drew looked at me and said, "Its not Mothers Day anymore mom!"

Owen got kicked in his "man hood" and said, "Oh, I hurt my Tenders!"

Drew asked this morning, "Mom in 2011 can we get a cat?"

Everytime I feed Mya prunes, Owen comes up to me and says, "Me like chocolate mom!" I give him a bite and his face turns to total disgust.

Owen ran up to me after wrestling the dogs and said, "Me see Cassie's boobies!"

While I was nursing Mya, Drew walked in and said, "Is she done drinking from your boob?" I replied, "No and it is called a breast, thats the proper way to say it." He looked at me puzzled and said, "No thats the Spanish word for it."

Kenny opened the fridge and said, "Something in here stinks." Ian looked at him and said, "Dad, sometimes I toot over there!"

Last night as the boys were saying good night to Mya, Drew looked up at me and said, "Mom, Mya has a boy haircut!"

Drew was reminding me about how when we saw macaws in Hawaii, that one of the macaws was chewing on a woman's hair. He said, about the macaw, "Thats not very nice, it's not choosing the right."

My favorite word Drew and Ian used to say when they were toddlers was, Laddie- for water. I thought it was such a cute word. Owen comes to the fridge and points his little finger and says, "Wa-Wa" for water. So cute!

Last night Kenny went in on a call to deliver a goat and Ian came into our bed. He climbed in and snuggled up beside me, he usually snuggles into Kenny. I asked him why he was snuggling with me and he said, "I can snuggle you because daddy isn't here mom!" He is such a daddy's boy.

Ian is such a daddy's boy. The other night Kenny had to go to the clinic and Ian was sobbing for him for a good twenty minutes because he wanted to go too. When I asked him why he was so upset he replied, "I just want my daddy, he is my favorite boy!"

Birthday parties celebrated in California are usually BIG! There is always a huge jumper, pinata, food for the whole family, and tons of presents. Well we went to a party last night and the boys spent 2 hrs. jumping in a big jumper. On our way home we saw another party going on that had an even bigger jumper with a slide attached. Ian asked, "Can we go to that party too?" I replied, "We don't even know who those people are. " His response, "Well lets just go ask them their names."

As we prepared to go to the Glenwood Springs pool in Colorado with Kenny's four sisters Drew impatiently said, "Come on girls, you're taking too long!" Kenny told him, "Get used to it, this is what men do, wait for girls to get ready."

Much to my dismay I found black ink all over our white sheets on our bed. I of course went straight to Ian and asked very sternly, "Did you write on my sheets with a pen?" With an innocent look he replied, "I was just trying to write my name."

Drew was watching me as I divided my hair into sections with clips to straighten it. He looked up at me and said, "Wow, you look beautiful!" Then when I was completely done with my hair he said, "You're a cute little mommy!"

Ian was dipping his finger in Kenny's contact solution and then touching his eye. I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "Just putting my eyes in mom!"
