{Honest Abe}

Drew has been working on a school project for several weeks now. He was asked to pick a person in history, who he liked and wanted to learn more about. He chose Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. He read several books about him, made a time line of his life, wrote a report, made a poster with pictures, & turned himself into Abraham Lincoln!

He also has to present a short oral speech to his classmates. I think he looks adorable!!!!

Drew learned about the civil war, slavery, and is now wanting to go and see Mount Rushmore and the Lincoln memorial in Washington, D.C.. I'm glad that this assignment taught him so much about the history of our country and about one of the greatest Presidents of the United States!

{Blue & Gold}

Tonight Drew attended his first Blue and Gold banquet for cub scouts. They asked each scout to come with a crock pot full of spaghetti to share and a cake that represented cub scouts. I have to be honest when I read the cake part, I was not excited. I am not a huge fan of making cakes. I am the daughter of a mom who stacked Little Debbie cakes into towers for our birthday! I started researching cub scout cakes and all I found were complicated cakes depicting camping scenes. Not my idea of fun! I asked Drew what he wanted to make and he responded quickly, "A Flag!" I thought about it and thought that should be easy enough.

Drew made the cake and frosted it with the help of Ian.

I loved this idea! Twinkies made into pinewood derby cars. I could do this!

Drew received an award for having the most patriotic cake! He was very pleased with the end result.

The boys performed skits, sang a song, and won awards for passing off requirements. It was a fun night and I am proud of Drew for his many accomplishments in scouts!

{Stater Brothers}

Owen went on a field trip with his preschool class to the Stater Brothers grocery store. They were given a brown bag at the beginning of the tour and at different areas of the store, they were given a treat to put in their bag. In the dairy department they were given string cheese, from the produce section they were given an apple, from the floral department they were given balloons, and from the bakery they were given a cookie! They loved going through the big cooler doors in the back of the grocery store and seeing where they store all the milk and eggs.
The produce man asked the question, "Who knows what produce is?" Owen answered quickly, "Fruit and vegetables!"
Preschool friends: Bayer, Carson, Kate, Noah, Owen, and Ashtyn....with little siblings!

Owen only has 5 more weeks of preschool, then he will be graduating and heading to Kindergarten in the fall!

{The Pier}

We spent hours on the Santa Monica Pier riding the amusement park rides. The kids ran from ride to ride and rode each one multiple times. It was cool seeing the ocean all around us as we played on the pier.



Mya's favorite ride was definitely the airplane. She and I rode it over and over again, while the boys kept riding the roller coaster with Kenny.
We rode the huge ferris wheel and the emotions from the kids were hilarious as we looked like we might fall into the ocean!

We stayed on the pier until dark and watched the sunset on the beach. It was the perfect way to end our Family Fun Day! I love these kids so much and I had a blast hanging out together as a family. I am so grateful for my hubby making it all possible and battling the crazy LA traffic, so that we could have some fun. My cup runneth over! :)

{La Brea Tar Pits}

We went to the La Brea Tar Pits in LA, so that we can say that we did something educational during spring break. The museum houses the earth's richest and most important ice age fossil collection. The tar pits are still active today and paleontologists are still collecting bones from them. The kids thought the oozing tar was interesting, but very stinky.The kids got to pull with all their might at the tar pull. It showed them what it was like to be stuck in tar, proving to them that tar is a very difficult substance to get out of.



More than 30 complete skeletons of fossil mammals and birds are on display.

The columbian mammoth was huge!

They have collected more than 1,600 wolf skulls.

We also watched a movie depicting Southern California thousands of years ago. There is definitely a lot more traffic now!

{Art}

We don't know exactly what this was outside of the Art museum in Los Angeles, but the kids sure enjoyed it!

{Hollywood}

After playing at the Santa Monica beach, we ventured down through Beverly Hills to Hollywood. We took the children to Ripley's Believe it or Not and they loved it! Everything there seemed odd, weird, & unbelievable, but it was 100% true!!!

First we saw mutant animals! As my kids went from one exhibit to the next, they just kept saying, "That's so gross!"

Believe it or not, but these are statues of real life people.

We all had favorite parts of the museum.

Drew loved all the optical illusions.

Owen loved Bumblebee and the Star Wars display.

I loved the prom dress made out of Starburst wrappers and the wedding dress made from toilet paper!


Ian was the most animated, imagine that, and enjoyed being part of the displays.

We all had a great time at Ripley's Believe it or Not. It rated high on our spring break adventures!
